PROGRAM

How long as Naz Sports been around?

For over 15 years, Valley Community Outreach (VCO) has organized and managed youth sports leagues across Tulare County.

What makes Naz Sports different?

Naz Sports is an affordable, family focused sports league run by professionals that place an emphasis on building families. We refuse to offer the same old boring sports program. Creativity and innovation are highly encouraged in our youth sports programs.

In addition to offering the most popular youth sports in one location, Naz Sports leagues offer team and individual pictures as well as the end-of-season Awards Night.

What is the age range of players?

Age divisions vary slightly by sport. All sports allow players to participate as early as 3-years-old or as late as 12-years-old (Sixth Grade).

More advanced players may play up into the next age division if their age is within one year of the next division's age range. Players are not allowed to move down in a younger division.

What if my child has never played sports before?

At Naz Sports our program is designed with every skill level in mind. From the beginner to the advanced athlete, everyone gets fair playing time. All teams are formed to ensure a balanced team on every level.

My child is special needs. Can he/she play in Naz Sports?

Yes. Naz Sports ensures that special needs participants have a positive sporting experience. Please discuss your specific needs with the League Director to ensure the best placement.

Does Naz Sports give out awards to the participants?

Your registration fee includes a medal that is awarded to each player at their Awards Night. Medals are high quality and are easy to display in your player’s room for years to come.

REGISTRATION

What does the registration fee cover?

All registration fees pay for the operation of the league. They cover game jersey*, liability/medical/property insurance, facility/field rentals, site directors/officials and other administrative expenses. $10 credit towards pictures.

The Naz Sports league is sponsored by Valley Community Outreach, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization and receives no government funding or subsidization. Some season fund-raising is encouraged at least once a year to help offset expenses.

Items NOT covered are shorts/pants (black recommended), socks and individual safety attire (mouthguards, shinguards etc.)

Game jersey is included.

Is there a discount for multiple children?

We offer a $5 discount for each additional sibling in the same sport.

How do I register?

  • Register online.
  • Make checks payable to VCO and mail or drop off in the Visalia Naz church office.

Can I cancel my registration and get a refund?

Our standard policy is no refunds.  This is especially true once the season begins.  Under certain circumstances ie. the season has not begun or the participant has become injured, partial refunds or full credit to a future season are available, options and amounts vary by league.
The $3.00 transaction fees charged by Sports Connect are nonrefundable.
Naz Sports has committed resources for the duration of the season based on enrollment after the registration deadlines. Please note as is listed on our flyers, prices and dates are subject to change.

GAMES

How long is each season?

Naz Sports operates four seasons a year: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Season length is determined by Holidays etc. and can vary in length, but is generally 9 weeks and 8 games long.

Check current calendar for season dates.

When are the games played?

All games are one-hour long and played on Saturdays except for Indoor sports games where older leagues play on Thursday and Friday nights. Game times and days may vary based on availability of facilities.

When will I get the game schedule?

Schedules are compiled after regular registration is closed. Game schedules are subject to change. Prior to your game day, be sure to check online for the most up-to-date game schedule.

Where will the games be held?

All games are held at The Naz Church facility.

What should I bring to the game?

Parents are encouraged to always bring bottled water for use during the game and snacks for after the game. If your game is held outdoors, sunblock protection is suggested. For outdoor games, it is recommended that you bring a chair as there may be very limited or no seating.

How do I find out if a game is cancelled due to inclement weather?

Generally, game cancellations will be announced on Facebook. Please be sure to like us on Facebook.

Thunder and lightning means auto cancellation. Rain may cause cancellation. It is up to facility staff whether we may use their fields during rain or not. Check online, prior to game day, for current game schedules.

Will there be a makeup game if a game is cancelled due to the weather?

We will do our best to make up any cancelled games. However, as we are renting our fields and courts, several factors are out of our control and re-scheduling may not always be possible.

COACHING

Who will be coaching my child’s team?

We promote family involvement that require parents to participate in the operation of their child’s team by volunteering to coach or assist with practices or other operational duties.

How to volunteer to be a Coach:

  • Sign up as a coach with Naz.
  • Call the Naz Sports office.

Doe Naz Sports provide any coaching materials?

Coach packets will be distributed at the Coach’s Meeting. Check our calendar for dates and locations for this event. Coach packet content may vary by league, but generally contain:

  • Team roster
  • Game schedule
  • Practice packet
  • Rules

TEAM & PRACTICE

How are the teams formed?

Teams are formed by age, closest school or zip code proximity and church affiliation.

We do our best to honor friend and coach requests.

Can my child play on the same team with a friend, sibling or particular coach?

Yes. When you register your child for the season, simply list the name of the friend, sibling or coach in the request field. We will do our best to accommodate your request although we cannot make any guarantees.

Coach and friend requests must be in the same age group.

Does Naz Sports schedule practices?

No. Each team is encouraged to have no more than two practices during a single season (and even then only is special cases). A 15-20 minute Practice/Warm-up time is scheduled as part of your one-hour court/field time each week.

Does Naz Sports provide practice facilities?

Naz Sports does not provide practice facilities. Indoor and lighted practice facilities may be available.

Do I need to purchase any equipment?

Yes. To keep registration fees low, Naz Sports provides only sports equipment. Each player is provided an official Naz Sports jersey, unless otherwise stated in the sports description.
